Villa Colleluna is located in the countryside of Carmignano, a delightful village in the province of Prato.
Carmignano is located in the heart of Tuscany, near the wonderful art cities such as Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Siena, and also charming medieval villages such as Certaldo (hometown of Boccaccio), San Gimignano (famous for its several towers), and San Miniato (renowned for its leather and white truffles). Carmignano also boasts large and small treasures, full of history and charm, from ancient churches and abbeys to Medici villas, from the medieval fortress to the beautiful Pontormo's “Visitation,” one of the most admirable examples of Italian Mannerism.
At just 3 km from the property, there is another lovely Tuscan village, Artimino, which rises above a hill overlooking an extraordinary landscape. Opposite Artimino is the famous Medici villa known as “La Ferdinanda” or “Villa of one hundred chimneys”, because of the vast number of stacks that jut out from its rooftop. This villa was built by Grand Duke Ferdinando I at the end of the 16th century. In this area you can find, also, two excellent restaurants.
At just 4 km from the villa you can admire the Tumulus of Montefortini, a monumental sepulchre 12 meters high in which there are two chamber tombs.
Along the nearby state road 222 “La Chiantigiana” you will enjoy breathtaking landscapes (like the gentle Chianti hills) and visit ancient villages characterized by important wine and food history (such as Greve, Panzano, Castellina, Strada, L'Ugolino).
Moreover, we suggest a trip to Vinci (20 km), a charming hillside village as well as the birthplace of Leonardo. Here you can see the “Museo Ideale Leonardo Da Vinci,” the first museum to highlight the complexity of Leonardo as artist, scientist, inventor, and designer, also in relationship with his life, his territory, and contemporary events.
For sports lovers, at just a few km from the villa you can reach a golf club (8 km) and an equestrian centre (7 km).
Artimino (3 km), Carmignano (4 km), Vinci (20 km), Pistoia (21 km), Florence (25 km), San Miniato (27 km), Certaldo (40 km), San Gimignano (51 km), Lucca (67 km), Pisa (70 km), Siena (83 km).
