Lodi – San Donato: a quiet residential area home to some important businesses

Corso Lodi is one of the main streets in Milan, great for those who wish to stay just outside of the city in a quiet residential area, also home to some important businesses.

Corso Lodi connects Porta Romana to the South East outskirts of Milan, in direction of San Donato.

San Donato is a busy town south to Milan, which was probably founded by an abbot from the nearby Abbey of Chiaravalle. The etymology of the name derives from the ancient church dedicated to ‘San Donato’, Bishop of Arezzo, a much esteemed and worshipped person in Milan’s Diocese.

The most important development of the city happened after the Second World War, when the country changed from a peasant place to the city that we now know today thanks to the ‘Centro Direzionale Eni’ settlement.

A number of tram, bus and metro stops (yellow line MM3 Lodi T.I.B.B., Brenta, Corvetto, Porto di Mare, Rogoredo FS and San Donato) are to be found in the area, as well as the numerous exits to the East freeway, to the Autostrada del Sole, the Rogoredo FS train station and the neighbouring Linate airport.
