The Louvre area: a dream for anyone visiting Paris

The Louvre, located in the 1st arrondissement, is one of the largest museums in the world, and it counts roughly 4 million visitors each year. Its halls display an unrivalled collection of sculptures, paintings and works of art from antiquity to modern age.

Its most famous work, which attracts visitors from around the globe, is the Monna Lisa, painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1505. The Monna Lisa is located in the Denon Wing, and her charming smile has contributed to the Louvre’s celebrity. Featured works also comprise paintings by Rembrandt, Dürer, Lukas Cranach and many other artists.

The Louvre main entrance is characterized by a 22 metre high glass pyramid, designed in 1989 by the Chinese-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei and placed in the centre of the ‘Cour Napoleon’ courtyard: the monument represents the union between history and modernity.

Living in a such a central position is a dream for anyone visiting Paris: the Louvre district is perfect if you are looking for a typical apartment for your Parisian holiday.

Well served by all means of public transport, the district offers a number of bus and metro stops (Palais-Royal-Musée du Louvre), that allow easy access to almost every part of the city.
