Santa Maria Novella, one of the most important churches of the city

If you are looking for an apartment in Florence city centre, Santa Maria Novella district is the best choice, close to the city centre and the railway station, which allows rapid connection to the main Italian and European cities.

The district is dominated by the Santa Maria Novella basilica, one of the most important city’s churches, located on the very same Santa Maria Novella square. The church, completed only in 1920, is one of the main examples of Florentine Reinassance and was partially designed by the famous Italian architect Leon Battista Alberti. Some of its main features: the frescoes by Filippino Lippi, Bronzino and Giambologna in the chapels Strozzi and Tornabuoni; the Trinity by Masaccio on the altar of the left aisle; the glass walls by Filippo Lippi; the crucifix by Giotto (1290) and Brunelleschi.

Within walking distance is also Florence city centre, with Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral, Giotto’s bell tower, the baptistery of San Giovanni and the marvellous San Lorenzo basilica, where you can admire the tombs of the Medici family. Walking down Via del Sole you will easily reach Florence city centre, offering plenty of shops, boutiques and restaurants for all tastes and budgets.

The position is also strategic for those coming to Florence for either business or study, since the district is really close to the Fair and the University.
